Toilets in Cambodia

I don't have a ton to say about toilets here. They were almost always remarkably clean. They don't use toilet paper but typically have a "bum gun" as they're so popularly referred to, which is a nozzle attached to a hose that you clean yourself with. It's, in theory, more hygienic than toilet paper and also MUCH less wasteful, especially in a country with an abundant freshwater supply. Sometimes there were squatting toilets and other times they were western, and yet other times there were two stalls with one of each. Sometimes there were little lizards or scorpions inside. Yeah that's about it. Oh also often times there is a shower attachment in the toilets too, and a drain on the floor, so it's common for the floor to be totally soaked which makes it inconvenient because your pants often get soaked as well. There was usually a nice sink outside of the toilets with soap (laundry detergent) available. The end.

Succinct and pragmatic, this assessment of the toilets has less of your usual effusive commentary on this topic, but I found it definitely helpful for a possible visit to Mongolia in the future (never happening, unless you are by my side, and holding my hand!). Still awaiting your toilet review from Ireland, where toilets flushed with cyclonic cascades, and tsunamis of waste extraction unlike anything I've ever seen. ❤️
